Development Counsellors International (DCI) is seeking a seasoned publicist with a strong track record in media relations for a freelance, independent contractor role. The ideal candidate will secure media coverage across top print, digital, and broadcast media, with a focus on travel, culinary, cultural, history, and sustainability themes. Note: This role is media relations-focused; client management is not required.

Responsibilities: 

• Develop and maintain travel media contacts across print, digital, broadcast and podcasts outlets/media 

• Develop compelling story angles. 

• Proactive pitch media to secure feature stories/segments in print and broadcast outlets.  

Qualifications:  

• Access to your own media database. 

• Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, with high professionalism. 

• Have mastered professional/business tone pitch writing 

• At least 8 years of PR (media relations or journalism) experience, with a track record in landing media placements 

• Freelance applicants interested in freelance/contract roles must be incorporated or hold an EIN and be based in the U.S.
